Gulf Coast Lawyer Fights Deportation Nationwide

Reasons for Deportation or Removal

There are several reasons why a person may be deported from the U.S. to their country of origin. The person may have been charged with a crime, or be threatened with deportation because they are in the U.S. illegally. If you are married to a U.S. citizen and the marriage doesn't work out, that may be a cause for deportation as well.

Please contact The Ratliff Legal Group at 251-438-2250 for assistance with immigration deportation or removal matters.

Several Options for Dealing with Immigration Deportation

When a client comes to us with deportation issues, we determine their options. There are several courses of action we may take.

  • If the client is in jail, the first priority is to get a bond to get them out of jail
  • Obtaining a visa for a client will allow them to stay in the U.S. temporarily or sometimes permanently
  • Petitioning the court for a waiver of deportation or a cancellation of removal will stop the deportation from occurring
  • It may be best to apply for voluntary departure in order to avoid a removal order
  • We may help you apply for lawful permanent residence
  • If past applications for a green card or citizenship have been denied, we may file a motion to reopen
  • When a client is afraid to return to their home country, we can help them apply for asylum, which is a protected status or withholding of removal
  • Our attorneys may file a habeas corpus petition or mandamus action to protect your status.
  • We will help you appeal to the board of immigration appeals. If we do not succeed there, you may choose to pursue your claim in federal court.
